BENGALURU: In January 2014, Karnataka IT, innovation incentives policy was declared. In order to accelerate the opportunities of investment in the state, the innovation and entrepreneurship will now be promoted in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
The facility of Incubation is essential for the start-ups and new entrepreneurs having innovative concepts. New incubation centres will be set up and existing ones will be strengthened in the Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, with the partnership of educational institutions, industries association and private institutions. A fully equipped K-Tech Innovation Hub is proposed to be set up at Tumakuru at a cost of Rs 7 crore to encourage budding entrepreneurs.
New terminal at Bidar airport
The government in the recent budget has given a boost to develop the infrastructure of airports. In this regards, a new terminal at Bidar Civil Airport will be developed at a cost of Rs 32 crore.
An MoU between GMR Hyderabad International Airport and state government in association with civil aviation ministry will be finalised. The development of Chikkamagalur and Shivamoga airstrips under PPP model and the development of Hassan airport will also be taken up. Rs 70 crore has been earmarked for the construction of 11 road over bridges/under-bridges.
‘Compete with China’
A new industrial policy for attracting investments and to generate employment will be rolled out with a major concentration to the backward areas of Tier2 and Tier 3 centres.
In order to boost manufacturing sector a multipurpose scheme called the 'Compete with China' has been unveiled and nine industrial clusters will be established in nine districts. The government expects that 9 lakh jobs, 1 lakh in each district, will be generated. Rs 100 crore will be allotted to continue the scheme. Rs 5 crore has been provided to the new scheme MSME-Sarthak. Under this scheme, quality raw materials, loans, advances, working capital and identifiable brand across the state will be provided. The government has concentrated on women empowerment by proposing to implement a self employment fund scheme under which a subsidy of 50% will be provided for purchase of industrial sewing machine.
It will be provided to women, who have obtained sewing machine training. To facilitate manufacture of new design products in traditional industries, a design clinic will be established in collaboration with national level design institutes.
