Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman, who went missing in 2014 was traced in Pune by the SR Nagar police on Thursday. The girl, identified as Mridula, who eloped with a married man four years ago, is now the mother of a baby boy, said the police, adding that a phone call made to her friend in the city helped them trace the ‘couple’.

In 2014, the girl was working at an infertility centre and was residing in a hostel, where she came in contact with Manikandan, a native of Tamil Nadu who was working as an instruments supplier for the clinic, said the sub Inspector of SR Nagar, Veeraswamy.

“Manikandan was already married and had a family staying at Begumpet. He and Mridula grew fond of each other and fell in love. Knowing that the family would oppose her decision, she eloped with the man and wrote to her family, claiming that she had decided to marry this man and not to look for her,” said the official, adding that the man’s wife was okay with this decision. However, Mridula’s father, Patangi Anjaneyulu, a businessman from SR Nagar, approached the SR Nagar police who registered a missing case and an investigation was taken up.

“Of late, they were moving often between Pune and Hyderabad. Recently, when Mridula made a phone call to one of her friends in the city, we traced the call data and located them in Pune. On Wednesday, search parties were sent to Pune to nabbed them and we handed the woman, now 28 year old and a mother of a baby, to her family on Thursday” concluded the official.
