Endosulfan victims' list to be reviewed

The parents of endosulfan victims, who are not in the list, demanded to be present at the cell meeting.

KASARGOD: Revenue minister E. Chandrasekharan has said that the government would again conduct medical camps at the 11 endosulfan affected grama panchayats in the district and the existing list of endosulfan victims will be reviewed. He was speaking after attending the meet of endosulfan cell here at the collectorate on Thursday. The parents of endosulfan victims, who are not in the list, demanded to be present at the cell meeting. But the minister refused to include them in the meet, leading to heated exchange of words between the officers and leaders of the endosulfan victims' samiti.

However, the minister accepted the complaints of the victims and offered his intervention in the matter. "As many as 1618 people had approached me pleading that they be included in the list. So, it was decided to conduct the medical camps once again for these people and if they are found fit to be included, they would be added," Mr Chandrasekharan said. The medical camps would be conducted by NRHM (National rural health mission) by the end of February.
