Hassan: Two people travelling in a car were killed on the spot after a goods train ploughed into their vehicle at an unmanned level crossing near Siddapura of Hassan on Wednesday. The car was dragged several metres by the train. The police identified the deceased as Raghavendra (28) and Anand (21), both residents of Dudda village of Hassan.
It is said that they were trying to speed the car over the rail track before the goods train arrived at the spot. But their car developed a snag and got stuck in the middle of the track, giving them no time to escape, the police said. The goods train was going from Arasikere to Hassan.
