Monisha family declines to take government compensation
Chennai: The family of one of the three girls students of SVS Medical College of Yoga and Naturopathy, found dead in a well near the college refused to accept Rs 1 lakh compensation given to them under chief minister public relief fund.
M. K. Tamilarasan, father of Monisha, one of the three deceased girls, refused to accept the money as the government announced compensation stating the girls had committed suicide. “I cannot accept the government stand. I had moved Madras high court seeking CBCID probe into murder of my daughter. I am sure my daughter did not commit suicide. Then how can I accept the government compensation declaring the girls committed suicide,” he told DC.
The girls —T. Monisha of Chennai, 19, E. Saranya of Kancheepuram and V. Priyanka of Tiruvarur, both 18, — allegedly committed suicide on January 23 by jumping into a nearby well. In a signed suicide note, the girls alleged that “torture” by the management (when they complained of financial exploitation) as the reason for the extreme step and hoped it would force the authorities to take action against the college chairman.
Tamilarasan alleged that his girls were murdered and their bodies were thrown into the well. “Our suspicion has been vindicated by the post-mortem reports of the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital and Kilpauk Medical College Hospital,” he said, adding that the Villupuram hospital reports clearly says there was no water in the internal organs including lungs and in the second autopsy done in Kilpauk points to the head injury. Another girl Priyanka’s autopsy reports also indicate head injury, he said, adding that since the well had considerable amount of water how come the girls if they jumped directly into would have sustained head injuries.
“It only indicates the girls were murdered and their bodies were thrown into the well,” he claimed. Mr Tamilarasan has given a written letter to the revenue officials who came to hand over the cheque stating that he would not accept the government compensation at the moment. However, sources said the parents of Priyanka and Saranya have accepted the government compensation.
