CM Jagan Continues Work on Third List, Holds Talks With Legislators

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as president of the ruling YSRC continued the scrutiny and analysis process on Monday to finalise the third list of party coordinators.

Several legislators came to the camp office and met the CM and other top brass of the party regarding change of coordinators for the Assembly and Parliament constituencies.

There were expectations of the third list’s release by Monday night, but in vain.

According to reliable sources, the CM did not have any official programme or review meeting on Monday and spent his full time in finalising the third list, in consultation with other senior leaders.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy is trying to finalise 20-25 names for the Assembly constituencies and five Parliament constituencies, in the third list,” party sources said.

YSRC’s Narasaraopet MLA Gopireddy Srinivas, facing opposition in the constituency, was called to the CM’s camp office for talks along with leaders opposing his candidature. A YSRC Rajya Sabha member discussed and settled the issues and misconceptions between him and Srinivas and both sides agreed to work together in the 2024 elections.

Srinivas Reddy admitted that he might have committed some mistakes but he never harassed YSRC leaders through false cases. Neither did he cooperate with Telugu Desam nor was he in touch with TD leaders, he asserted.

He said, “All things were explained, we agreed to work in coordination by shunning differences. I will be the YSRC candidate for Narasaraopeta.”

Concentrating on Nandikotkur Assembly constituency, the Chief Minister conducted talks with YSRC Nandikotkur incharge Byreddy Siddharth Reddy. Siddharth Reddy reportedly opposed the candidature of present MLA Thoguru Arthur.

Interestingly, the YSRC high command did not consider the name of industries minister Gudivada Amarnath in the first two lists. This led to speculation he might be denied the party ticket. But, in fresh developments, the YSRC high command considered Amarnath for Yalamanchili, Chodavaram and Pendurthi. He is likely to get Pendurthi due the large presence of Kapu and Velama votes. Amarnath’s grandfather and father had been MLAs from Pendurthi.

Speculations were rife about YSRC Penamaluru MLA, K. Parthasarathy, joining the TD. The high command contacted him. YSRC regional coordinators Rajya Sabha member Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy and MLA Marri Rajasekhar along with MLA Kyle Anil Kumar held talks with Parthasarathy. Later, they all met the CM.

Former ministers and MLAs, Perni Venkataramaiah alias Nani and Kodali Venkateswara Rao alias Nani, joined the meeting and they put their heads together to resolve the Penamalur conflict. A positive result is expected by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also concentrated on the Vizianagaram LS constituency and called Vizianagaram MP Bellana Chadrasekhar for talks. Jagan Mohan Reddy held talks with the MP in the presence of YSRC north Andhra coordinator Y.V. Subba Reddy. A proposal is to field Botsa Jhansi, wife of minister Botsa Satyanarayana, from Vizianagaram.

MLAs V.R. Eliza and A. Srinivasulu also met the CM. They talked about the reshuffle of seats.
