Kochi: Flood-hit bathing ghat revived

Recycling the discarded PET bottles, vertical gardens were set up and trees were also planted in the premises.

Kochi: The bathing ghat in Periyar near Sree Krishna temple at Aluva which was damaged in August floods has been revived by NGO and educational institutions. Volunteers and workers deputed by the NGO Plan at Earth and students of Toc H Institute, Arakunnam cleaned and repaired the bathing ghat with the financial support of SP Global Foundation, an educational trust. The ghat become unusable with loads of silt and garbage deposited in floods. Tonnes of silt and waste were removed by the volunteers. The steps leading to the river were also cleaned and painted.
