Irked we are but we will go with Congress: JD(S)
Bengaluru: The Janata Dal (S) Legislature Party , which met here on Tuesday, resolved to join hands with the Congress for the coming parliamentary poll although not without some reluctance as some legislators objected to comments made by a few of its leaders on Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy.
The JD(S) legislators particularly targeted Chickaballapur MLA, Dr Sudhakar and appealed to party patriarch, H D Deve Gowda to raise the matter with either the Congress high command or coordination committee chairman, Siddaramaiah, according to party sources.
On nominations to boards and corporations, and appointment of parliamentary secretaries, the meeting decided to accommodate two defeated candidates in the last assembly poll, and make eight other nominations from among sitting legislators, sources added.
The meeting resolved to release a list of 10 names for the boards and corporations and four names for parliamentary secretaries over the next week. Of the four parliamentary secretaries, one will be from North Karnataka, one an OBC, one a minority and another a representative of the Dalit community. The probable candidates include Mr Kona Reddy and Mr Zafrulla Khan, reveal sources.
Minister and senior party leader, H D Revanna, who brought up the issue of the party's two vacancies in the Cabinet, backed the candidature of Mr B M Farooq for a berth under the minority quota.
In response, Mr Gowda promised to fill the vacancies soon after Sankranti festival.
