Hyderabad: A student from IIIT-H has created algorithms which can help spot cyber bullying. The effort from Mr Vinjay Singh, 21, was to detect aggressive behaviour online. Mr Singh has prepared Hindi-English code text as that is the combination typically used by Indians on social media websites which was presented in a language conference in Brussels, Belgium.

Mr Singh said, “The model is limited to Facebook but we will choose a greater variety of social media text which is considered as offensive, aggressive or hate speech to make predictions and results more significant.” Two other papers were selected for the conference. The focus of research of final year student Raghuram Vadapalli was automating science journalism where penning a simplified version for common people is important.
