Telangana: SSC Exams in junior colleges with CCTVs

The authorities are preferring centres that have CCTV facilities in classrooms to curb irregularities.

Hyderabad: The Secondary School Certificate exams set to begin from mid-March will have more centres equipped with CCTV cameras this year. The authorities are preferring centres that have CCTV facilities in classrooms to curb irregularities.

As per the instructions of the directorate of government examinations, officers contacted the Intermediate Board and principals of government junior colleges seeking permission to hold the SSC exams there.

Intermediate exams will be almost over by the time the SSC exams commence, and there will be no clash of dates.

Officials said that most junior colleges having cameras will be used for the SSC exams. The authorities are in the process of identifying such institutions.

“Although we decided to implement this concept the previous year, we could not find many schools. We are confident of finding a big number of centres that can be monitored through cameras this year.

“Exams will be held at schools, especially in rural areas and remote places, which do have the CCTV cameras. It will take some time before all institutions have CCTV facilities,” an official said.

Telangana Recognised School Managements Association president S.N. Reddy backed the initiative to check a few corporate schools that resort to irregularities to get top scores. Also, genuine students, who put their heart and soul into the preparation are set to benefit from this, he said.
