\'Lasika Mitra\' COVID vaccination campaign evokes good repsonse in Udupi

After the ‘Lasika Mitra,’ the vaccination coverage has considerably increased in the district

Udupi: The COVID-19 vaccination campaign named ‘Mane Manege Lasika Mitra,’ has received a good response in Udupi district.

The vaccination drive is based on the national level campaign, ‘Har Ghar Dastak.’

The health department officials had visited every household with the voters' list during November 22 to 30 and collected information of vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

As per the voters' list, the total number of people eligible for vaccination in the district is 8,97,728.

Officials said that 8,70,423 have received the first dose and 7,38,220 have got their second dose. As per the survey 27,305 are yet to get the first dose and 1,32,203 are yet to get their second dose.

After the ‘Lasika Mitra,’ the vaccination coverage has considerably increased in the district. Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao had visited some places to supervise the vaccination campaign and also convinced the people about the importance of vaccination.

The total number of people who have taken their first dose has increased from 93 percent to 94.02 percent after the vaccination drive. Similarly, the second dose has also increased from 67 percent to 72 percent.

Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M said that the district administration has got good support from people. To help the labor class, the district administration is organizing a special vaccination camp. One such was held at Udupi Sri Krishna Math.

“With the support of the people we are hopeful of reaching 100 percent vaccination soon,” the official said.
