HYDERABAD: The state government will soon introduce new modules in Dharani to address critical issues like wrong entries of names or the very ownership and the extent of the land.
Chief secretary Somesh Kumar is said to have been finalising the modules and will approach the state Cabinet very soon for the approval. Sources told this newspaper that physical verification, a practice that has been dispensed with the launch of Dharani, will be reintroduced and synchronised with the digital initiative.
“Major difference from the previous practice is that the power of making changes in the records which were earlier carried out by the village revenue officers as per their whims and fancies will be entrusted to the district collector,” said a senior official.
As per the new module, people shall apply for the necessary changes submitting all the supporting documents. The designated authorities will issue notices to all the parties concerned and hold a thorough inquiry before submitting final proceedings to the district collector who in turn will effect the changes.
“There were several complaints about missing extent in Dharani in contrast to the physical records. The officials found that the problem arose during the data purification launched by the state government before the switch over to the digital initiative. Some landowners, mostly the non-resident Indians, could not cross-check the data and missed the omissions by the local revenue staff. We will gradually address this issue also,” said an official.
Meanwhile, the drop in the number of complaints received by the Dharani across the state has been giving relief to the authorities. While Dharani was flooded with 4,000 to 5,000 complaints on an average every day, the number came down to 1,500-1,800 in the recent past.
The special drive for suo-motu deletion of entries from the prohibited list by the district revenue officials also yielded results, according to officials. In the event of any court cases over a piece of land in a survey number, the entire land in that particular survey number was included in the prohibited list in Dharani. As a result, either new transactions or transfer of ownership for the transactions that were already made could not be processed. The government launched suo-motu deletion of undisputed properties from the prohibited list two weeks ago.
