Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has called a Cabinet meeting at 5 pm on Wednesday at Pragathi Bhavan. It is likely to discuss the municipal elections, the new Revenue Act and state finances.

According sources, Mr Rao intends to hold the municipal polls on a single day in the last week of January. The municipal administration department on December 3 issued the schedule to invite objections in 131 urban local bodies including nine municipal Corporations (except Hyderabad, Warangal and Khammam).

The government has to notify the wards and reservations, and the entire process will be completed by the month-end. The State Election Commission will need 14 days to conduct the elections. Sources said the Cabinet will also take a decision on the Pay Revision Commission recommendations and 25 per cent fitment to government employees.
