Bengaluru: The 111-year-old Siddaganga Matha seer, Shivakumara Swamiji, was airlifted to Chennai from HAL Airport here on Friday after he suffered gall bladder infection and fever.
The seer was taken from the Matha to airport by road with zero traffic and then taken by special air ambulance to Chennai, where he will undergo treatment at Rela Institute & Medical Centre.
The Matha authorities said the treatment procedure is yet to be decided and Swamiji might undergo surgery on Friday evening or Saturday morning, depending on his health condition. “After undergoing surgery, he might have to stay for 3-4 days in Chennai,” the authorities added.
After he was discharged from BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital on Monday there was a constant fluctuation in Swamiji’s condition. A team of doctors, including Dr Ravindra and Siddaganga Hospital and Research Centre’s head Dr Parameshwarappa consulted liver transplant expert Dr Mohamed Rela and decided to take him to Chennai.
