Thiruvananthapuram: Sanal family to start protest
Thiruvananthapuram: Family of Sanal Kum-ar, who was killed subsequent to an altercation with a police officer at Neyyattinkara last month, is launching a stir demanding compensation and job.
Sanal Kumar’s wife Viji and mother Rema-ni will be staging relay strike in front of Secr-etariat from Monday. Their demands are financial assistance of at least '50 lakh and government job to Viji.
The family members, accompanied by leaders of a local action council, said at a press conference here on Friday that many ministers who visited the family following the tragedy had assured due compensation and job. But so far no assistance was given to the family and the family was facing threats of attachment from various banks.
Sanal, who was 32, died after a car hit him after allegedly being pushed to road by then Neyyatinkara DySP B Harikumar following an altercation over parking car. The incident occurred on November 6 night. Harikumar who was absconding after the incident was found hanging at his house on November 13.
Action council leader Vishnupuram Chand-rasekharan said that the government seem-ed to have neglected the plight of Sanal Kumar’s family after the death of the DySP. The family will be initially staging day-long stirs and if there was no favourable action from the government, the stir will be intensified further, the action council leaders said.
