Hyderabad: Celebrities, bigwigs make beeline to cast their votes

Many actors posted messages, selfies showing their inked finger in social media.

Hyderabad: Many politicians and celebrities turned up in large numbers to cast their votes in the debut state polls. They were spotted earlier at around 8 am to 11am in their respective constituencies.

Most personalities who voted also gave a message to the rest of people to do the same. Governor of the two Telugu states E.S.L. Narasimhan along with his wife Vimala Narasimhan voted at Somajiguda. The Governor mentioned that no one should consider this as a holiday but should come out and vote. He added that there was scope to choose the right candidate only if everyone votes.

Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao accompanied by his wife Ms. Shobha Rani went to their native village Chintamadaka and voted there. Mr Rao said that he anticipated a higher percentage of voting today in the state and in Hyderabad too, as many people were enthusiastically coming out to vote.

Homegrown celebrities like Konidela Chiranjeevi, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Junior NTR, Mahesh Babu, SS Rajamouli and others too voted along with their families in various polling booths at Jubilee Hills. Actor Ram Charan, who could not tweeted, on the micro-blogging site, “Feeling disappointed that I am unable to exercise my voting rights due to unavoidable circumstances. Please cast your vote and make it count.”

Many actors also left messages on social media and posted their selfie images showing their inked finger, encouraging their fans to go out and vote. Many sports stars including Sania Mirza and P.V. Sindhu also voted.

The menace of missing names in the voters list was not just limited to common people, it extended to Jwala Gutta, Transport DG T Krishna Prasad, Tarun Bhardwaj, Rama Rajamouli and others as well.
