Cyclone Ockhi: All party meet today
Thiruvananthapuram: All party meeting convened by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to discuss cyclone Ockhi related devastation will be take place here on Friday. The all party meeting will review the rescue and relief operations being carried out in coastal areas. The meeting will also evolve a consensus on the steps to be taken for the rehabilitation of the affected fishermen families.
The government is likely to come under severe attack from the opposition parties at the meeting. The opposition UDF and BJP have accused the government of failing to rise up to the occasion. From the delayed response to the IMD forecast and the failure of chief minister to visit the affected areas, the opposition representatives will raise these issues at the meeting.
The UDF leaders visited the affected areas on Thursday for an on the spot assessment of the situation and to meet the affected families. The opposition parties believe that the compensation announced by the government was inadequate. They are likely to raise demand for hiking the compensation amount and also jobs to the next of the kin of victims.
