Bengaluru: BJP leader alleges land grab by city-based realtor

Bengaluru Development and Town Planning Minister K.J. George has encroached upon 13 acres of land near the Embassy Golf Link Tech Park.

BENGALURU: BJP city unit president N.R. Ramesh has alleged that Bengaluru Development and Town Planning Minister K.J. George has encroached upon 13 acres of land near the Embassy Golf Link Tech Park.

Releasing a 600-page document to substantiate his claims at a press meet here on Thursday, Ramesh said, "We all know that Mr George is a shareholder in Embassy Group. Rs 4,000 crore worth 52.3 acre government land was purchased by Embassy by faking mutation registry. While they claim to have purchased 52.3 acres, they have fenced 65 acres."

Even on its official website Embassy Group has stated that it is spread over 65 acres, while their sale deed reveals that they own only 52.3 acres. Hence they have encroached upon 13 acres of land, which is worth over Rs 800 crore, Mr Ramesh alleged.

Under the guise of construction, Embassy Group has encroached upon the buffer zone of Challaghatta Valley. Commercial complex has been constructed illegally at the sites which were meant of dwelling purpose. All this has happened with the connivance of BDA officials and BDA Commissioner has given a possession certificate for the same, Ramesh alleged.

Further, Embassy should be paying a property tax of over Rs 10 crore. While they are paying mere Rs 1.24 lakh and fooling BBMP about the remaining Rs 9 crore, he added.

He said that a complaint has been registered against Mr George and Embassy Group with the Lokayukta, ACB, BMTF and ACMM court. Mr George was not available for comment.
