Hyderabad: The Board of Intermediate Education will file criminal cases against private junior colleges which fail to follow norms released by the Telangana State Board of Higher Education, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said on Tuesday. The norms were drawn up to prevent student suicides.

The BIE will follow the CBSE academic calender from next year, Mr Srihari, who handles the education portfolio, said. He warned private colleges against running classes during holidays. He said they should follow the academic calender issued by the TSBHE.

He advised parents to admit their children in junior colleges which are affiliated by the TSBIE. The list will be released before March 31.
