Kochi: Ending suspense, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the actor abduction and sexual assault case is all set to submit the final chargesheet in the case by this weekend.

According to official sources, actor Dileep, out on bail and facing conspiracy charges, is likely to be arraigned as the main accused.

The final draft of the chargesheet was being scrutinized by a team of top police officers led by the state police chief Lokanath Behera, they said, adding a final decision on the actor will be taken only after completion of the process.

The investigation officials also dismissed reports of not having a strong case. "The charges are backed by solid evidences and the final scrutiny is on to remove any loopholes," the sources said.

The SIT had filed the chargesheet against seven persons with Sunil Kumar Surendran aka Pulsar Suni, as the first accused, in April. It is now slated to file a supplementary chargesheet in the case against six others including the actor, who spent 85 days in the Aluva sub-jail.

The actor has been booked under IPC 376 (d) for gang rape, 120 (b) for criminal conspiracy , 201 for destruction of evidence, 212 for harbouring criminal , besides various provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Meanwhile, civil police officer P. K. Aneesh, accused of aiding Pulsar Suni in contacting Dileep while in custody, has been made an approver in the case and his statement recorded before the judicial first class magistrate court, Angamaly, two days ago.

Besides the policeman, officials also hinted at the possibility of Vipin Lal, Charles and Vishnu, currently named as accused in the case, turning approvers.
