Ayodhya case: Plea in SC seeks lodging of FIR against Mulayam Singh Yadav

The petitioner said it was undisputed that Mr Yadav was CM of Uttar Pradesh in the year 1990.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has been moved on Tuesday for registration of an FIR against former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for ordering police firing against kar sevaks in Ayodhya on October 30, 1990, when they had gathered in connection with the demand for construction of Ram Mandir. One of the kar sevaks, Rana Sangram Singh, in his special leave petition said Mr Yadav while addressing a meeting on February 6, 2014 had admitted that as a Chief Minister he ordered police firing on kar sevaks in Ayodhya to win the confidence of Muslims.

He said he had made a complaint before the Lucknow police for registration of an FIR against Mr Yadav but this was dismissed. The petitioner challenged the 2014 order passed by the Allahabad HC, which refused to accept his writ petition. The petitioner said it was undisputed that Mr Yadav was CM of Uttar Pradesh in the year 1990.
