Think out of the box, Chandrababu Naidu tells students

50 acres for one of the best science museums' in Tirupati.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the AP government will allot 50 acres of land in Tirupati for “one of the best science museums in the world”.

Responding to a proposal by G. Satish Reddy, adviser to Union defence minister, Mr Naidu said that the state government was ready to lay the foundation for the science museum on January 3, the eve of the Indian Science Congress which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate.

Speaking at the 2nd AP Science Congress, the CM said the state was using technology extensively. He said that knowledge-driven economy was now leading the path of development and the fourth industrial revolution. led by Internet of Things is opening new avenues.

Mr Naidu stressed on the innovation and incubation centres at all universities in the state. He said students and researchers should not limit themselves to laboratories, but instead expand their horizons with entrepreneurial skills. To enable this, all educational institutions should have incubation facilities, Mr Naidu said.

He emphasised on the resources available in the newly-formed state and said in defence sector, the state has got five major projects from the Central government and DRDO. “With these public sector projects, private investments will follow. I envisage projects worth of '1 lakh-crore in defence manufacturing,” he said.

The CM presented life time achievement awards to AVRA labs chairman A.V. Ramarao, former V-C, Manipal University B.M. Hegde, former director NIMS, Dr Kakarla Subba Rao and B.M. Birla Science Centre director Dr B.G. Siddhartha.

Dr Satish Reddy, Advanced Systems Laboratory director Tessy Thomas and C. H Satyanarayana of Laurus Labs received distinguished scientists awards while 15 young scientists were also given awards. The Science Congress will continue on Wednesday.
