Seven dogs killed due to carelessness at kennel in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Seven dogs have died at a commercial kennel due to the negligence of the owner and caretaker at Bank Colony near Kapra.
Jawaharnagar sub-inspector N. Shanker Kumar said that one Mr Kamalesh Singh, who runs a commercial kennel at Bank Colony, had not been taking care of the dogs for the past few days.
Since he was not present at the kennel, seven dogs starved to death. Alerted by the stench, locals informed the representatives of People for Animals (PFA) on Sunday.
A team comprising Mr Dattatreya Joshi, Mr Shashi Preetam and others visited the site and rescued a few dogs that were in a poor condition. Based on a complaint lodged by animal welfare officer Mr Pradeep, police registered a case under Section 429 of IPC and sent the bodies of the dogs to the veterinary hospital for post-mortem.
The SI said that the case was under investigation and they were searching for the prime accused along with the kennel’s caretaker.
Locals said that there was a dispute over rent between Mr Kamalesh and the house owner which led to the death of seven dogs.
Mr Shashi Preetam said that the rescued dogs from the kennel were in poor condition. “The dogs rescued were just skin and bones, and were about to die. We have demanded the police for quick action as there is a possibility of destruction of evidence," he said.
Mr Joshi said that the kennel was illegal and did not have a GHMC approval.
