Bengaluru: City's population would cross 2.3 crore and demand for drinking water would reach 50 TMC by 2031, says a report by private agencies, which have drafted the Master Plan 2031.

During a meeting convened to discuss the Master Plan on Tuesday, Bengaluru Development minister K.J George, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Mahendra Jain, BDA Rajkumar Khatri and others were informed that the city would generate 18,000 tonnes of garbage per day, from the present 4,000 tonnes.

The report, prepared by Netherlands-based firm Royal HaskoningDHV India and another private firm Adapt, projected the demands of the city in the future and the need for the government to step up its infrastructure to meet the demands.

Further, it has even estimated that job requirement will increase from 45 to 49%, additional houses required will be 29 lakhs and the share of affordable housing is 60 %. It has said that power demand (peak) will be 7354MW.
