British PM Theresa May packs in a lot into her 1-day visit in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Soon after she will land at the Kempegowda International Airport at 10 am on Tuesday, the packed one-day itinerary of British Prime Minister Theresa May’s maiden visit to the IT capital will comprise all that is of critical importance to her and her country – from meeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to fulfilling a social obligation at a government school to holding closed door meetings with corporate tech giants and a visit to an ancient Shiva temple in the city, said an official source. Soon after landing at the KIA, the British PM will meet Mr Siddaramaiah at the Taj Hotel, opposite the airport terminal.
Thereafter, she will visit a government-run school in Bengaluru Rural district. From there, Ms May will go to an industrial unit in Peenya, which manufactures spareparts for the Airbus. Her next stop over will be at Barton Centre on MG Road, where she is expected to hold business/trade-related meetings. She will then visit the ancient Someshwara temple in Halasooru before going to Taj West End for another business meeting with the heads of the IT industry. She will head back to the international airport after wrapping up the meeting in the five star hotel, the officer said.
Avoid these roads
British Prime Minister Theresa May’s one-day visit and BJP’s protest against Tipu Jayanti celebrations is expected to throw traffic out of gear in the city on Tuesday.
The traffic police have imposed parking restrictions in different parts of the city. In view of Ms May’s visit, the police have asked the motorists to avoid these roads.

The traffic police said that congestion could be expected in and around Maurya Circle where the BJP workers are protesting. The police have requested commuters to take alternative roads to avoid chaos near the Circle.
