Visakhapatnam: Even two years after bifurcation, six districts — Anantapur, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore and Prakasam — are still under the jurisdiction of the Regional Passport Office at Hyderabad. The applicants in these districts have to visit Hyderabad for inquiry regarding passport related issues, tatkal and other services.
Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vizag, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur besides the district of Yanam (UT Puducherry) in AP are in the jurisdiction of RPO, Vizag.
After division of state, only two districts — Krishna and Guntur — and Passport Seva Kendra were transferred to Vizag RPO and the other districts and Passport Seva Kendra, Tirupati, in AP, are still in the jurisdiction of RPO, Hyderabad as the ministry of external affairs is yet to transfer some districts to VIzag RPO.
The MEA will set up a full-fledged Regional Passport Office in Vijayawada and eight districts, including Rayalaseema would come under RPO Vijayawada, said a senior officer.
