Warangal: NIT prepares for Diamond Jubilee fete

Warangal: The National Institute of Technology, Warangal, is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country.

It was in fact the first Regional Engineering College to be established in the country in 1959.

It was later upgraded to the status of a deemed university in 2001 and renamed as the National Institute of Technology.

The institute will host its year-long Diamond Jubilee celebrations from Sunday. Vice-President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu launched the celebrations from the auditorium at 9.30 am.

The institute expanded from its modest beginning of offering BE programmes in three engineering disciplines to presently offering eight B.Tech programmes. There is also a PG intake of around 750 students, spread over 29 specialisations of various branches of engineering, sciences and management.
