Hyderabad: Student dies of medical negligence

His parents alleged that the doctors were negligent due to which their son died.

Hyderabad: An Intermediate student from Nirmal died at Srikara Hospitals in Kompally following a hydrocele operation on Saturday.

The boy’s parents alleged that he died due to the negligence of doctors while performing surgery and lodged a complaint with the Pet Basheerabad police.

The deceased Sathvik Reddy, 16, was an Intermediate first year student at Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Miyapur. On Saturday, he complained of severe pain in his testicles.

He was taken to Landmark Hospitals where he was diagnosed with hydrocele and was later taken to Srikara Hospitals in Kompally for a surgery, where he died during the evening.

Speaking to media, Sathvik’s father Bhaskar Reddy said, “At about 3 pm, Sathvik was admitted to Srikara Hospitals due to pain in his right testicle and eh was taken inside the operation theatre at about 4 pm. An anesthetist accompanying the surgeon, left midway telling his duty hours were finished and another anesthetist joined after some time. A few hours later, the doctors told that Sathvik was no more.”

Pet Basheerabad inspector M. Mahesh said, “The boy was admitted due to hydrocele. His parents alleged that the doctors were negligent due to which their son died. A case has been registered for causing death due to the negligence and an investigation has been initiated. Following an autopsy from Gandhi Hospital, further action will be taken.”
