Hyderabad: Awareness event on auto fares at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stop

Police also conducted an awareness programme for the public who were hiring autorickshaws at the MGBS for travelling to their destination.

Hyderabad: The Sultan Bazaar traffic police have conducted a traffic awareness programme at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stop (MGBS) and Metro Railway station auto bays, regarding autorickshaw drivers fleecing passengers by charging extra without using a metre.

Speaking to this newspaper, Sultan Bazaar, traffic inspector Shankar Raju said, “After receiving many complaints about autorickshaw drivers charging extra, we counselled the autorickshaw drivers to not charge extra as it was a violation, and legal action could be taken against them. The police also conducted an awareness programme for the public who were hiring autorickshaws at the MGBS for travelling to their destination.”

Traffic cops also installed public awareness boards with detailed information of the fares that should be charged with the metre as per the destination.

Contact numbers of the Sultan Bazaar traffic officers was also provided so that passengers can inform of violations, if any.
