Contractor threatens BBMP officer, held

However, the joint commissioner withheld his bill as it had the signature of an officer who recently retired.

Bengaluru: A 34-year-old contractor with BBMP was arrested by the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police for allegedly threatening a BBMP Joint Commissioner.

The police arrested BBMP solid waste management contractor V. Venkatesh, a resident of Veerabhadrappa Layout in Vidyaranyapura, based on a complaint by BBMP RR Nagar Zone Joint Commissioner H. Balashekhar.

According to the complaint, Venkatesh had approached the joint commissioner with a bill of Rs 51.65 lakh and Rs 12.23 lakh for the sanctioning of funds for the solid waste management work he had taken up in J.P. Park Ward 17.

However, the joint commissioner withheld his bill as it had the signature of an officer who recently retired. Following this, Venkatesh allegedly went to the joint commissioner's office to press for sanctioning the bill.

Again on Friday, Venkatesh went along with his gang to the joint commissioner's house and abused at him for sitting on his bills. Later, Balashekhar filed a police complaint. The other accused in the case, Sunil Gowda, and others are absconding.
