The traffic police personnel are using MDTs to regulate traffic and to attend to road accidents.
Hyderabad: The number of deaths in motor vehicle accidents has been coming down over the years. Cyberabad saw 609 fatalities in road accidents last year, and the number stands at 458 till the end of September.
Cyberabad DCP, traffic, S.M. Vijay Kumar told this newspaper that the number of accidents had gone down by 25 per cent. There have been 151 fewer accidents so far as compared to the same period last year.
This was attributed to display of safety signage, more patrolling and easier availability of ambulances. Patrolling at different ORR stretches had also helped.
Some of the patrol vehicles are equipped with speed guns and breath analysers to catch drunk drivers.
