Karnataka Rakshana Vedike men protest near minister's house, held
Bengaluru: Twenty one pro-Kannada activists were detained by the High Grounds police after a protest staged outside Primary and Secondary Education minister Tanveer Sait’s official residence here turned violent on Saturday morning.
Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) raised gathered near the minister’s residence on Palace Road and raised slogans against permitting more English medium schools and allowing private schools to collect extortionate fees.
“The government is silent about private schools collecting huge amounts for books, shoes and uniforms. Another major issue is that deserving students are being denied admission to Kannada medium schools under Right to Education (RTE) quota,” said a protester. The minister, when contacted, was unavailable for comment.
