HMDA staff may get a boon

Farmers did not agree for monetary compensation and requested the government to ha-nd over developed plots in return.

Hyderabad: Employees working in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) might get plot allotments in developed Uppal Bhagat layout, which is now a prime property in view of its proximity to the Nagole Metro Rail station.

The state government had acquired 761 acres of land in Uppal Bhagat, Uppal mandal, for the Musi river conservation and riverfront de-velopment project.

Farmers did not agree for monetary compensation and requested the government to ha-nd over developed plots in return.

Nearly 550 awardees were given allotment certificates pertaining to 1,350 plots, with so-me of them getting two or more plots in different categories. The remaining developed plots belong to the HMDA, which it is proposing to auction for general public in the coming months.

However, a proposal was mooted to consider employees, who mi-ssed out earlier or joined after land was allotted in Vanasthali-puram, Kattedan etc during the erstwhile HUDA period.

The number of em-ployees on permanent rolls of HMDA is just over 200, out of which non-allottees are less than 30. Over 500 HUDA employeess wh-o got plots had retired in the last one and half decade.

Officials said that those who got la-nd benefit earlier wou-ld not be considered this time. Although market rate is on the rise in this developed layout, the employees might be offered discount, which would be decided later. MAUD minister K.T. Rama Rao is learnt to have positively responded to this proposal.
