Pak markings on grenades seized from terrorists in Naugam: Army

4 terrorists were killed in a gun battle with Army in Naugam sector on Thursday, trying to sneak into the Valley.

Srinagar: The Army on Saturday said that the weapons and other ‘war-like stores’ found on four militants who were killed while sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir after breaching the Line of Control (LoC) earlier this week confirm the neighbouring country’s complicity in “abetting and equipping” terrorism.

“Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) markings on the hand-grenades and the UBGL grenades recovered from these terrorists bear testimony to Islamabad’s involvement in abetting and equipping terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and beyond,” said defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia here.

The Army formally released photographs showing the recoveries from the four militants gunned down in Kupwara’s Nowgam sector on October 6 bearing Pakistan made markings.

“The hand-grenades recovered are ARGES 84 which are manufactured by POF. Pakistan origin markings are also seen on the medicines and eatable items recovered,” the spokesman said.

He added that a large number of highly inflammable material including six each plastic explosive slabs, bottles of petroleum jelly, those of inflammable liquid and lighters were also recovered.

Similar inflammable material was recovered following the encounter that took place in Poonch on September 11 and the terror attack at the Army headquarters in Uri on September 18.

The spokesman added, “This shows the sinister design of Pakistan to aid terrorists in causing maximum destruction”.

He said that also found on the four militants killed in Nowgam sector are 4 AK 47 rifles with sixteen magazines and 349 rounds of ammunition, one each radio set, Global Positioning System (GPS), binocular, Samsung mobile phone and First Aid kit and four each rain ponchos and haversack besides clothing and eatables.
