Chennai: City police traced a vehicle in which a city jeweler was ‘kidnapped’ only to find that the kidnappers were policemen from Bengaluru who had detained the jeweler for investigations.
Naveed who runs a jewellery store in Triplicane was picked up by the four men on Thursday morning after which his staff alerted the local police.
The staff informed the police that Naveed was taken in a car and shared the details of the vehicle after which police alerted the other police statons. The car was traced to Parrys corner and when the city police team descended on the alleged kidnappers, it was revealed that they were a police team from Bengaluru.
Police sources said that a robber from Chennai was arrested in Bengaluru in connection with a burglary.
The robber had informed the cops that he had handed over a substantial amount of the stolen gold to Naveed following which the police team cane to Chennai.
