Abu Salem got passport in Andhra Pradesh under an alias
HYDERABAD: Extradited gangster Abu Salem was convicted in a in a fake passport case in 2013. A local CBI court had pronounced the judgment in the case and awarded seven years imprisonment to him. Abu Salem was found guilty of obtaining a passport on fictitious name and address in Kurnool district of united Andhra Pradesh.
Abu Salem had obtained a passport with the help of some officials through Hyderabad passport office under the name of Ramil Kamil Malik. He was also convicted in other offences of forgery, using as genuine a forged document and cheating by impersonation. In all he had obtained three passport, one for his wife Samira, another friend Monica Bedi and the third for himself in 2001.
The case was initially registered by the Andhra Pradesh police but transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation. When the judgment was pronounced in 2013, the court had already completed six years in prison.
