Four detained at Tirupati airport with inflammable liquid'

The airport police then alerted Tirupati urban SP R Jayalakshmi, who in turn questioned the suspects passengers.

Tirupati: Tirupati airport officials detained four passengers belonging to Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, after suspecting them of carrying liquid explosive material in bottles, on Wednesday.

According to sources at the airport, the four passengers entered the airport at about 1.30 pm to catch a Delhi-bound Indian Airlines flight scheduled to leave Tirupati at 2.20 pm.

When the airport’s security personnel conducted passenger checks they found five small bottles suspected to contain liquid inflammable material in their baggage.

Immediately, the Central Industrial Security Force personnel alerted the airport police and lodged a formal complaint against the four passengers. The airport police then alerted Tirupati urban SP R. Jayalakshmi, who in turn questioned the suspects passengers. The four said that they purchased the material at Railway Kodur of Kadapa district.

The airport police with the help of Kodur police also brought the person who sold the material, to Tirupati. According to available information provided by official sources, the bottles which contained the liquid inflammable material will now be sent to the Forensic Science Lab in Hyderabad.

The four suspects were identified as Riaz Ahmed, Aziz Sartaz of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Anwar Ahmed, from Delhi and Qureshi Ahmed from Bulandshahar in UP. The four were detained and questioned by the police.
No police official was available to disclose details about the detention.
