Bengaluru: The House committee on lake encroachment, headed by the Assembly Speaker K.B. Koliwad, is likely to submit final report to the state government by December.

Mr Koliwad told reporters here on Wednesday that report would contain the recommendations of jail term to those who encroached lake and lake-bund in and around Bengaluru. The committee observed builders and real estate bigwigs had encroached lakes in Bengaluru. It had also noticed that officers had colluded with builders to encroach lakes.

Details of officers and builders will be submitted to the state government and severe punishment will be recommended to the government against culprits, Mr Koliwad said.

Committee has obtained 99 percent of the documents regarding lake encroachments and studied nearly five to six thousand records. After examining all records, final report will be submitted to the state government, he added.
