Thanjavur: Lost & rescued 5-year-old yet to find his kin, home

Boy in childline custody unable to give info of parents.

THANJAVUR: A child by name Tharun (5), is in the custody of Child Welfare Committee here, for the past 15 days. As he is not able to reveal the correct facts about his parents and their whereabouts, Chairman of Child Welfare Committee, Thanjavur, Thilakavathi, has made an appeal through the media for anyone who had missed their child to take Tharun, after producing proper identities and documents.

According to Thilakavathi, one Parameswari (26) of Vilachery, Madurai district, left her house with three of her children after allegedly quarrelling with her husband and relatives. She had been taking alms along with the children in bus stands in places like Tirupur and Pollachi.

She came to Karur railway station along with one more child (four children) and was seeking alms. As soon as Childline got the news, it took the four children with the woman, and asked her to take them back after producing proper identity.

Parameswari went, but did not return to take back the children. The four children were handed over to the child welfare committee at Karur. As some of the children told officials that they belonged to Thanjavur, the children were handed over to the Child Welfare Committee at Thanjavur, a fortnight back.

A few days back, one of the child, Prithiviraj, said that he studied in a school in Madurai and revealed the name of his teacher. Child Welfare Committee members enquired in the school and found that they were all children of one person, Kochadai. He was informed and he came to Thanjavur and took three children after producing proper identities to prove that they were his children, and took them along with him to Madurai. But one child, Tharun, is left behind.

“Tharun says that his father's name is Suresh and mother's name is Chitra, and that he belonged to Pollachi or Madurai. He gives some other information after some time. As he is not sure, any parent who had lost him, can come and take him back. He is with the Child Welfare Committee of Thanjavur,” said Thilakavathi.
Thilakavathi can be contacted over phone 9842692223.
