NMC Bill: Tirupati police detains protesting doctors

During the protest, the pilgrims involved in arguments with the protesting doctors.

TIRUPATI/ Kadapa: Tension prevailed at the gateway of Tirumala Hills, near Alipiri, when the visiting pilgrims and junior doctors from Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC) got involved in heated exchange of arguments, while staging a protest opposing the NMC Bill on Wednesday.

The members of SVJUDA blocked the Alipiri check post and organised a protest. During the protest, the pilgrims involved in arguments with the protesting doctors.

The arguments heated up, forcing the police to interrupt and lift the protesters. The police detained the protesting medicos.

Meanwhile, the medicos, working at Rajiv Gandhi Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital held a rally to protest against the assistant commissioner’s action against a student on Wednesday. Junior doctors conducted a rally against the police and NMC.
