Article 370: Indian University V-Cs congratulate PM Modi

They have alleged that the Centre was trying to come out with the dictatorship.

Visakhapatnam: The President, Association of Indian University Vice Chancellors (AIUVC), Y.C. Simhadri predicted Jammu and Kashmir would witness huge development in the future following scrapping of Article 370. J&K remained a backward state so far, he lamented.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mr Simhadri said, “The issue has been pending for the last 72 years and there is a need for the development. Scrapping Article 370 will help Jammu and Kashmir to grow. The Jammu and Kashmir have a beauty that can’t be seen elsewhere. But, with this article, there are no investments in tourism. Now the people will start investing in the tourism sector of Jammu and Kashmir, which would favour the unemployed youth to get the jobs.”

He added, “We congratulate the Prime Minister and Home Minister for this decision and welcoming it. This time all the intellectuals and other important personalities, state, political parties, etc. have supported the central government. We can see the bill has easily cleared both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. This shows the importance of the issue and the support the Centre gained for it.”

Meanwhile, the Left parties staged a rally in the city. They have alleged that the Centre was trying to come out with the dictatorship.
