Interstate bus services stopped after the news of Karunanidhi's death declared
Krishnagiri: Interstate bus services were stopped soon after the news of DMK leader M Karunanidhi’s death was officially declared on Tuesday evening.
The Karnataka state transport corporation (KSRTC) was the first to stop sending its buses to Tamil Nadu, an hour before the shocking news was announced.
As a preventive measure, 150 buses operated by the KSRTC to the various destinations across Tamil Nadu were stopped. KSRTC Buses that already entered the state have been asked to park at the safer places.
Similarly, Tamil Nadu state owned TNSTC asked its depot managers not to operate new buses till further orders. They were replaced by the older vehicles to clear the passengers stranded in the bus stands.
On the Karnataka side, the State police have made elaborate security arrangements at Attibelle in the neighbouring Karnataka state, bordering Hosur of Krishnagri.
The security cover given to the inter-state border due to the information from its Tamil Nadu counterpart.
The government-run liquor retailing Tasmac shops were also closed. The included 113 shops closed in Krishnagiri and another 53 in Dharmapuri district. Other business establishments have downed the shutters to mourn the death of Karunanidhi.
