Hyderabad: Parents hold stir at 'New Century School'
Hyderabad: During an inspection by new Mandal Education Officer (MEO) Anjaneyulu at the New Century Public School, parents of around 60 children gathered and demanded admission of their wards into Central Board of Secondary Education schools on Tuesday morning. Earlier this month, a shed collapse in the school premises had killed two girls and injured several other students. The school has been shut till further notice.
The New Century Public School was also affiliated to the CBSE. It had central syllabus till class VIII. A list of sixty children and details of their parents were submitted to the MEO. They were demanding admission into CBSE schools. The MEO assured the parents that he would take up the issue with higher authorities.
Parent of Devi Sri, a student of the New Century Public School, Gunashekar, said, “We want our children to be in CBSE schools, as they have been in a Central school till now. We do not want our children to be troubled with a change in syllabus. We have given our representation to the officials and we want this to be settled as soon as possible.”
The District Education Officer was unavailable for comment.
