TRS MP Kavitha asks sisters to gift helmet to their brothers

Many sisters in Telangana followed suit and gifted helmets to their brothers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, on Monday.

Hyderabad: TRS MP Kavitha Kalvakuntla gifted her brother, K. Taraka Rama Rao, the Minister for Information Technology, a helmet as part of a road safety campaign. Many sisters in Telangana followed suit and gifted helmets to their brothers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, on Monday.

K. Kavitha Rao, the daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, urged sisters to gift helmets to their brothers and received an overwhelming response on social media. Many boys in the state took to social media to post pictures of themselves receiving helmets from their sisters while being tied rakhis. K. Kavitha Rao herself shared a picture of her gifting a helmet to K Taraka Rama Rao.

Rahul Puttakokkula from Nizamabad shared his feelings on Twitter, where he said, “I feel blessed that my sister gifted me a helmet on rakhi, for my safety, after getting inspired by K. Kavitha Rao’s campaign. I am really thankful to Kavitha for taking up such a good initiative to safeguard brothers. It’s a very good idea, my mother was very glad that my sister gifted me a helmet for my safety.”

K. Kavitha Rao launched an online campaign called Sisters for Change on the occasion of her brother K.T. Rama Rao’s birthday, on July 20.

The campaign has received praise from political leaders, actors and sports personalities, including Gautam Gambhir, Saina Nehwal, Gutta Jwala, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dev, Priyadarshi, Nitin Gadkari and Poonam Mahajan.
