Telangana: Youth ends life after exile' fails to win lover's kin over

Srinandhan Bahrain job was condition set by girl's family.

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old from Jagtial district, who went abroad to work as part of conditions laid down by the family of a girl he loved, has committed suicide.

Manchala Ganga Srinandhan travalled to Bahrain to work for a private firm on June 2 and committed suicide two months later.

In response to a request filed by Mr Nangi Devender Reddy of the Telangana Gulf Workers Association, the Indian embassy in Bahrain said a death certificate has been issued for Srinandan, and the body would be sent to India after completion of local formalities. The body is expected to reach home this week.

Srinandhan was the youngest of the three sons of Mr M. Ganganarsaiah, an RTC conductor. He had dropped out of college and was doing odd jobs. His his elder brother Navanandhan is in Dubai for more than two years and is well settled.

Encouraged by this, and the condition laid down by the girl’s family, he travelled to Bahrain on June 2 to work as a helper in Al Moayyed Cleaning and Maintenance, LLC.

His brother, Mr Raghunandan, said that he did not like the stay in the first week, but adjusted slowly. He was very happy upon receiving his first pay, told his parents that he would return after completing his two-year term.

On the afternoon of August 2, he spoke to his mother at around noon and told her that everything was fine and that he would call her at night.

“Later we came to know that he had hanged himself in his room. He was last active on WhatsApp at 1 pm. We have to find out what happened in this one hour. We suspect that there could have been some harassment from the girl’s family which may have forced him to take this step,” Mr Raghunandan said.
