Karnataka High Court disposes of plea against steel bridge

The state Cabinet on June 8 had approved the construction of a steel flyover at Shivananda Circle at a cost of Rs 19.85 crore.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Monday diposed of the PIL filed against the proposed steel bridge near Shivananda Circle. The petitioners, K.S. Prasad and 24 others had approached the High Court against the construction of the steel bridge.

The court which disposed of the plea has directed the petitioners to approach the Principal Secretary of Bengaluru Development and State Town Planning (BBMP), who in turn shall decide on it within two months.

The state Cabinet on June 8 had approved the construction of a steel flyover at Shivananda Circle at a cost of Rs 19.85 crore.

The proposed steel flyover was to come up between Hare Krishna Road and Kumara Krupa Road.

The decision to build the bridge after the government earlier dropped the Rs 1800 crore steel flyover project from Chalukya circle to Hebbal bowing to protests.

The steel flyover project has been assigned to M Venkata Rao Infra Project company with a one-year deadline to complete the project.
