Dearth of 4 lakh doctors: Vice-President-elect Venkaiah Naidu

He expressed his anguish over the medical and health sector while addressing students at SV Medical College, Tirupati.

Tirupati: Talking about the lack of sincerity among the doctors, nurses and other staff members of government hospitals, Vice- President-elect M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said there is a shortage of four lakh doctors in the country.

He expressed his anguish over the medical and health sector while addressing students at SV Medical College, Tirupati.

He said: “India is facing a shortage of four lakh doctors. The PM wants a medical college for every district. Government hospitals should improve its own health before improving that of the patients.”

He asked the employees of the government hospitals to introspect whether they were doing justice to their job or not.

He said: “Government hospitals will be the best if every employee does justice to their job. The leading heads in the government should undergo medical treatments in government hospitals. ”
