Rs 45,000 crore to turn Hyderabad into global city, says K Chandrasekhar Rao
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday said Rs 45,000 crore would be spent for the development of Hyderabad in the next three years at the rate of Rs 15,000 crore per year to transform Hyderabad into a global city. Mr Rao announced that the ‘Focus on urban Telangana’ initiative will be taken up on a mission mode for the next three years. Another Rs 10,000 crore will be spent on other municipal corporations, the CM said. The CM instructed officials to prepare an action plan for taking up of development works with Rs 55,000 crore in the coming three years in Hyderabad and other cities.
Mr Rao was speaking at a review meeting on development programmes and infrastructure facilities in the state on Saturday at Pragathi Bhavan. Minister K.T. Rama Rao, principal secretary Arvind Kumar, commissioner T.K. Sreedevi and the Mayors of Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Ramagundam were present in the meeting.
“Special focus and attention is required to develop corporations in the state during the next three years. Roads, parks, tanks, drainage, canals etc are to be developed. There is no dearth of funds. Rs 55,000 crore will be allocated for this. Works are to be carried accordingly,” Mr Rao told the officials. Mr Rao asked officials to act tough against illegal layouts and regularising them should be done away with. The reservoirs of Gandipet, Himayatsagar and Hussainsagar are to be filled with Godavari water, Mr Rao said. He said care should be taken that the drainage water will not flow into tanks.
