PIL against K Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad High Court

The PIL submitted that it was necessary to conduct an enquiry into the misuse of government funds for the CM's temple trips.

Hyderabad: A city resident has filed a PIL in the Hyderabad High Court, seeking to declare as illegal the expenses incurred by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during his recent visit to Kanakadurga Temple at Vijayawada to offer a nose stud to Goddess Durga as he had promised during Telangana statehood struggle.

Prof. P.L. Vishwesh-war Rao, a resident of Secunderabad, moved the PIL stating that the Chief Minister along with his family members and several ministers went to Vijayawada in a special aircraft. He said the Chief Minister offered a nose stud to the deity which consisted of 57 diamonds and 11 grams of gold, worth more than Rs 5 crore.

He submitted that the state government allocated Rs 5 crore worth of jewellery for Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Tirumala, A gold crown worth Rs 59 lakh for the Bhadrakali Ammavari Temple in Warangal, a nose stud for goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchannuru and a gold moustache to the deity at the Kuravi Veerabhadra Swamy temple in Mahabubabad. He submitted that it was necessary to conduct an in-depth enquiry into the misuse of government funds for the trip.
