Bengaluru: In order to reduce the number of accidents, K.S. Layout traffic police laid a 2 km long median on 100 Feet Road.

Assistant Sub Inspector Krishnaiah along with two head constables Ashok Kumar and Srinivas, attached to Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station, took the initiative to lay the road median in Banashankari 6th stage on Friday.

The road is prone to accidents and two people died on Wednesday. After this incident ASI Krishnaiah decided to lay down the median.

The police said that in January they had sent two request letters to the BBMP and BDA for road median, but even after several follow ups no action was taken.

"We made use of the cement curve bricks which were left behind after finishing the footpaths in the same area and started laying them down along the reflectors for about two kilometres to ensure the safety of the commuters," Krishnaiah said.

"We started on Friday morning and it went on till late night. We did all we could, but this is a temporary median and we hope the civic authorities build a permanent one," he added.
